UMMC's Resuscitation Training Center Empowers Mississippi's Future Healthcare Leaders
By: Jereme King
The Resuscitation Training Center (RTC) is playing a vital role in training future healthcare professionals through its assistance with Mississippi’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) groups. Team members from the center work closely with HOSA chapters across Mississippi, offering workshops, demonstrations, and certification courses to high school students interested in medical careers. In addition to training, RTC staff also adjudicate HOSA competitions, ensuring students receive fair, professional evaluations in events related to emergency preparedness and other medical skills
The RTC team actively contributes to local HOSA education initiatives through Gluckstadt High School’s advisory committee. By advising on curriculum development, career readiness programs, and skill evaluations, the center is helping to shape the next generation of healthcare providers.
Through these outreach efforts, we hope to empower students to become lifesaving leaders in their schools and communities. By combining professional expertise with student enthusiasm, the collaborations foster a culture of preparedness and confidence, ensuring that more people have the knowledge to respond in emergencies. With its commitment to education and public health, The RTC will continue to make life-changing impacts, one trained student at a time.
